No tri/2.4 Mile Run

Didn't make the triathlon tonight. I got held up at work, and while I might have been able to make it to the race, I would have had to fight through traffic and sweat about being late, and generally not have the time I like to have before a race. I went home and ran the 2.4 mile loop again, this time in 22:22, much better than the other day, but still less than my fastest. I have been in such a funk about training. I can't make up my mind what to do. I think maybe I need to just focus on one race at a time and prepare for that, and if I do another race, do them only as training. That said, i probably should focus on Litchfield on the 24th of June, and do lots of hill bike rides, and some long slow runs and swims. Sunday is the 10K in Simsbury. I should use Saturday for a long bike and then just suck it up and run slow and long in the 10K.

2.4 Mile Slow Run

Ran a sluggish in the himidity heavey legged 2.4 miles in 24.30. I am not feeling in shape. I had a hard time even going out to run, but at least I did. Thursday is the first Lake T triathlon of the year. If I go, it will be only to race it slow.

13 Mile Bike/1.5 Mile Run

Didn't get up in time to do my 5:30 24 mile planned ride. Instead I rode at 8:30, did the 13 mile route and added a huge hill at the end, and then once home, put on my sneaks and went right into a 1.5 mile run. Very slow at first, but then found my slow steady tri running speed. I have some work to do if I want to be ready for the Litchfield Hills race, much less the Black Fly weekend.

Carriage Run

Ran with Zoey tonight because that was the only way i could get in a run. Did the 2.4 mile loop in just under 25 including stopping to tie my shoes.

Ride

Got up at 5:30 and rode the same route I rode the other day. I am having a hard time getting motivated. I need to be riding every day or nearly everyday if I want to get in shape. I am still coughing and hacking up phlegm, which may be why I am so tired. It was nice to be out there before the sun came up over the trees

2.4 Mile run

Ran my 2.4 mile route in 23:06, which is slower than the speed run i did it in last March at 20:05. I just tried to run easy so i am not displeased. Just glad i got a run in and did not get to short of breath or cough up too much gook.

2 Mile Run

Ran for almost 22 minutes this morning. I have been battling the respiratory infection. Today I was just trying to take it easy. I was spitting up phlegm coughing nag having watery snot running out of my nose at the end. I was somewhat winded. I may try to do a light bike and run later. Or I may just nap and rest. I am not certain what my next race move should be. A 10k in Simsbury early in June or a lake T Tri. It will depend on how I respond and recover.

13.1 Mile Bike

I have another respiratory infection, but i did get out on the bike for a 13.1 mile ride with lots of hills, and lots of coasting, My knees felt better, My butt gets a little tired. I don't think i will be healthy or fit enough for the Shamrock duathlon next week.

Swam a mile at the pool untimed. Did not go particularly fast and my leg cramped when I got out. But I made it. Need to swim more.

3 Mile Run

Ran 3 miles at the track at Lauren's softball. My plan was to do a speed workout, but after my one mile warm up, I had no gas so i just kept chugging along.

Got up at 5:30, rode for 30-40 minutes easy out on the streets. My knees have been bothering me today. I think I made a tactical mistake but not riding sooner or using my bike as a trainer this winter. I use slightly different muscle angles and ligaments on the real bike, and it may take me a little while to break them in.

I got off work early. I rode the bike at the gym for 1 hour going hard - 16.5 miles in a hilly workout, then did a light swim.

4.75 Mile Run

Ran 4.75 miles this morning with Chevaughn and she whupped me. It was humid and I was out at the Boston Celtics game until 1 last night and had no breakfast, getting up at 6 to run, and I ran the first two miles in hoodie and snow hat, which was a mistake, but still she beat me by a good 20 seconds, lead all the way, not that we were racing. It did teach me a valuable lesson. I don't have the wind for not having run too tlong. My legs felt good, I just was tired. I ran the route, which had some good hills in 48:20.

Bike Ride

Got on my bike and did a short neighborhood ride late this evening just to get back on the bike. I clipped in and out okay, the bike, newly refurbished with new chain and chain ring felt fine. The legs were okay. My feet hurt some because my socks were not pulled taunt. I definately need to be out riding much more reguarly. My debate now is whether or not to fo a 10K on Saturday -- I think I may be able to run 10K in under an hour, or else just do my strength classes and ride the bike.

4.4 Mile Run

Ran my 4.4 mile route easy and did it in 41:58. While I don't normally time this run, when I did time it last year I did it in 44-46 minutes.
