2008 Highlights

1. Continued to work out. I am a runnner, swimmer, biker. I am a triathlete.

Total Volume 2008 + 6788
Toral Volume 2007 - 9244

Decrease of 27%. That's bad.

Stayed Injury free for the most part. That's good.

Volume hurt some by two colds, late winter episode of sore toe, stiff ankle (?gout) and demands of a new baby and two jobs.

2. Ran Iron Horse 10K

3. Swam Madison Mile



4. Raced the Lake Compunce Sprint Triathlon and a triathlon at Winding Trails. Took several minutes off my PR at LC thanks to new road bike.

5. Ran the Manchester Road Race with Chevaughn.

6. Ran 4 5K's, including setting PR Pace in 3.27 mile race in East Hartford. Pace of 9:14

Mile Run

Went to the track and ran 1 mile in the cold and dark. I ran a lap, walked maybe fifteen yards, then would do the next lap. Just wanting to be certain I didn't push myself too hard. On the second lap a big coyote/small wolf came out of the woods and joined me on the track. I was tempted to run right at it shouting to see if I could spook it, but that was just a passing throught. We were after all brothers in the night.

Good to be back out. Felt okay afterwards. It was a bit on the cold side.

I need to do much better in the new year than I am doing now, but I also don't want to run until I am healthy. I think will be able to do 2-3 next time out, as long as it it daytime.

Run/Lift/Swim

Ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Did one set of 12 reps on the eight machines (chest press, leg lift, should press, leg curl, lat pull down, ab crunch, curl, tricept push down.

I was also thrilled to see a sign that the weight room is getting all new machines that should offer a better workout.

Swam 500 yards.

Took a jaccuzzi bath.

Lift/Swim

Went across the street, did a five minute warmup on the bike, than did one set of 15 reps on all 8 cybex machines, and then got in the pool and swam 750 yards, just going easy. Good to be back working out.
