Master's Swim

I had a one hour one on one swim lesson tonight with the master's coach because only three people came tonight.  It was great.  Here's what I focused on.
1.  Keeping my head down (looking at bottom of pool
2. Entering the water and then reaching, using my arm pit to move the water, that throwing the water out of the pool.
3. Using a little tow kick with each stroke to keep my legs up.

Before the night was over, I had swum a 50 yard sprint in 37 seconds.  (That's without a flip turn.)

Not bad for an old shark.

Master's Swim

Swam today.  Did lots of kicking drills which were very hard for me as i generally do not kick much when I swim.  I did swim 25 yards in a timed 14 seconds.  Also we did stroke counts and i was averaging 16-17 strokes per 25 yards.

When I get going right, I really do enjoy the pulling/gliding or swimming.

Run/Swim

Ran this morning for first time since the Rugged maniac.  I did 10 push ups, ran a lap at the track, did 10 pushups, ran a lap, etc, until I had completed 4 laps, one mile and then did a final 10 push ups.

Did not feel too bad.  I did not run fast and tried to keep my strides short.

Later I did my first master's swim session - a coached hour of swimming various lap combinations.  Got a nice tip on moving my arms closer under me rather than so far out to the side that helped me go faster.  Over all I swam about 2100 yards.  Did not get too tired.  They have sessions six days a week, of which I could ideally get to 4 of.  My goal is 2-3 a week,

Taking it Easy

So I haven't been doing much.  I have ridden the bike a couple times at night and I swim once a week while Zoey has her lesson.  I have been to the doctor form me feet -- I officially have plantar facititis and will be getting orthotics.  I have also been battling a chest  cold.

Working on deciding on an off-season program.  My doctor told me I could run even before I get the orthotics.  I may have pain, but I will not be damaging myself and moving is better than not.  I am trying to stretch.  I am going to try to impose a TV only when biking rule.  Also, Cornerstone is starting a master's swim program, which I hope to do a couple times a week.

Thinking about races for next year.  The early thinking is obstacle races with some swims thrown in.  Haven't decided on the main goal race yet.  In no rush.
