1500 Yard Swim
Swam 1500 at the pool.
My log of becoming a "triathlete" at age 48, and continuing through age 55.
Did a quick 8 mile ride this morning, riding over to the Health Center and up the hill. I was basically scouting out and early morning weekend ride I can do reguarly. There are a couple of loops with hills on the way I can hit. i definately feel stronger on the hills this year, but I am still a slow rider with too slow a cadence.
Ran 2.25 miles in 21.06 at the softball field track. It was warm and humid. I didn't want to push it too hard. My legs - hamstrings - felt very tight at first. My lap pace started at 2:15 and ended at 2:30.
Swam at Lake Terramuggus tonight and then rode the bike course. The swimming was tiring. But it was good to be back in the open water. I felt I rode pretty well. It was a beautiful night.
Worked in a short workout tonight at the track. Walked a lap, ran two, walked one, sprinted one, walked one, sprinted one, walked one, sprinted one, walked one. My lap times were 1:47, 1:48, and untimed as my timer malfunctioned.
Foot felt better after icing, naproxyen, and some stretching. I think it was just tight from so much driving in a car I have not driven for awhile. Did a long run, and while I did not run fast, I feel that my training is back progressing.
Didn't do the race. I was too wiped out from my night of beers at Fenway park to adequately recover. I woke up this morning to do a bike ride, but it was wet and rainy. Then I decided to run and I had a very weird painful stiffness in my right foot near the base of the toes. I tried running to see if I could run through it, but stopped after fifty yards. I don't think anything is broken. I think it is just a stiffness, maybe from position from all the driving I have done lately. I may try to run again later if I can get Zoey to nap.
Snuck in a 2.4 mile run this morning. I've been very busy at work and am going to Boston today. back tomorrow. Sunday is the Shamrock Duathlon. I have hardly gotten any rides in. I will decide whther to sign up or not tomorrow afternoon.
Was hoping to ride early this morning, but as I was getting my bike pants from the laundry room, my daughter woke up and caught me, and said, "Today, is the day, you're spending with me, Daddy?"
Ran in the morning, which is good. Ran slow and tired, which is not so good. I just have to keep at it.
Got up at 6 and ran the neighborhood route before work. I need to do more of this. I feel like I am just barely maintaining shape.
