Greater Hartford Quarter Marathon



Ran the Greater Hartford Quarter Marathon today (6.55 miles), and let me say I ran like an old man with lung disease.  Now keep in mind the longest I have run since last December is 4.4 miles and that was only once and back on March 9.  Other than that my longest runs have been 26 miles, so clearly I was not in shape.

I did however, run without stopping. My official time was 1:13:38. The only other time I ran this race, back in 2009, my time was 1:13:02 ; My second lap was much slower than my first.

I definately need to get in better shape.  This winter has been hard for running, and I have been working like crazy, but I have a lot of training to do if I expect to finish a tough mudder in August.

Bounce U/Hill Run

We had Zoey's birthday party at Bounce U where I practiced for the tough mudder doing the Bounce U obstacle course. I challenged a variety of the kids and lost to all of them. The crawling killed me.



Later I did a 2.6 Mile Hill Run.

I ran for 36 minutes at the resovouir.  they had the normal route closed so I didn't get to do the big steep hills.  I ran slow without a lot of breath.  need to do several more runs to get in shape for the two loop circuiy in two weeks.

2.6 Mile Run with Hill

Ran an older neighborhood route i hadn't run for a while that included the big Buena vista hill.  i am alsways so slow and old when i start running.  I warm up somewhat toward the end, and afterwards always feel like i should have gone harder.  Am iceing my heel now.  Touch of the plantar facitis.

4.4 Mile Run

Ran 4.4 miles today on the road, ran slow with heavy lungs.  At least I kept on.  I have till March 30 for the 1/4 Marathon.  All I want is to be able to run it slow without stopping and without too much exhaustion.

Did some pushups at work, then went to gym tonight and lifted and did some crawling.  It is easier on the gym maps than on the tile.  Not vertain how it will be on the mud.  Then swam for 15 minutes and took a hot tub.

Got in a short workout between getting off work and picking up Zoey.  Bike for 5 minutes to warm up, then lifted for 15 minutes.
